My name is Maeganne and I live in Western Washington. I am a Project Leader of the SK Musketeers 4-H club.
I bought my first rabbit, a Chocolate Sr. doe, from Joni Johnson, Luvable Bunny Barn. Later, she gave me a Black buck, and I bought another Chocolate doe from her. Unfortunately, the buck died. I looked around for another buck, and bought both a buck and a doe, Mega Pixil and Kadie, from Nathan Pope, Creekside Rabbitry. Those two rabbits, and their offspring, are the backbone of my breeding program right now. The buck, especially, is out of some top lines, and he has sired 14 litters for me, since I bought him in October of 2007.
I have ten registered rabbits right now. I've come a long way since I started in October of 2006, and I have really enjoyed being part of this hobby. I hope to continue raising rabbits for a long time.
I have been in 4-H since May of 2007. I joined just too late to compete at County fair that year, so I just studied as much as possible. I had one of the best 4-H leaders, Tracy Schneewind, who has helped me to accomplish everything I have been able to do with rabbits. I could never have done so well at either County or State if it hadn't been for her. She has even been looking for rabbits to help my breeding herd when she has been to shows, and picked up a really nice doe, La Rochelle, for me from another breeder who had to sell all of her rabbits. I can't even begin to relate all that she has done for me. I got to compete at both County and State level both of my years as a 4-H member. I would like to thank all of my fellow 4-H members who encouraged me during both years' competitions. All of them have been very helpful. I would also like to thank all of the leaders and adults in 4-H, who have encouraged me to keep on working, and have helped me practice. I couldn't have done it without them.
I have now rejoined 4-H as an assistant Project Leader. I look forward to working with all of my fellow members, especially those in my club, this year. I'm also looking forward to seeing how everyone does at County and State fair this year.
I would like to thank those who have sold me rabbits and helped me with my questions about them during the past 3 years. All of you have helped me more than you imagine.
